Contest Categories:


Professional Raks Sharki (solo)
(Professional Category (male or female) . Middle Eastern music only. Promotes or advertises self as a teacher or professional performer).NOTE! this category is to a live band only, provided by the MBC. You will need to choose your song in advanced, before the competition day.


Professional Raks Sharki (group):
(This category is open to cabaret groups of 3 or more dancers The dance is to be fully choreographed. No solos can be permitted in this category. Dancers should appear equal in skill).NOTE! There is a 50 point penalty if you use non-Middle Eastern Music in this category.



Rising Star Raks Sharki (solo): ( 2 or more yrs. exp. Does not perform for money on a regular basis and does not teach. Non-professionals. Middle Eastern music only). NOTE! There is a 50 point penalty if you use non-Middle Eastern Music in this category.


Tribal Soloist: (This category is open to all tribal soloists of an advanced, semi-professional or professional status. No drum solos are allowed in this category. Props may be used, but no extra points will be given for their use).

Title of Second Runner-Up of the 2008 Miami Bellydance Competition, 3rd place Sash, Trophy, Certificate of Achievement and Prizes!


Judges for the 2008 Miami bellydane competition are: Maria Jammal (Morocco), Faten Munger (Egypt), Zahra Zuheir (CA), Ahava (CA), Samay (FL), Sandra (CA), Yamil Annum (Argentina), Hanan (FL)




No Cell Phones, Pagers, Video taping devices, Camera Phones, Digital Cameras, Digital Video Cameras, MP3 Players, sound recording devices, hand-held games or any other electronic devices are allowed inside the ballroom.
Cell Phones must be on “silent” and can not be used at any time while inside the ballroom. If you are caught taking photos or taping any part of the show using any of these devices you will be asked by Security to erase your footage and leave the ballroom.
