Samay is an internationally known professional
Middle Eastern Dance Artist who has traveled extensively in the Middle East
to acquire the true techniques and cultural aspect of Middle Eastern oriental
and folkloric dances. Samay’s
amazing talents were honored in 2004, when she won the title of First
Place Winner of the coveted Ahlan Wa Sahlan International Bellydance Competition
hosted by Egyptian Dance Goddess, Raqia Hassan, in Cairo, Egypt. She
has since been back to the festival numerous times as a fundamental
part of the list of Master Instructors. Samay began learning this
wonderful dance from artists such as Raqia Hassan, Dina, Nagwa Fouad, Mahomoud
Reda, Yousry Sharif, Jihan Jamal, Ylsa and Tamalyn Dallal (Samay’s
main instructor). She
presently oversees one of the largest Middle Eastern Dance Programs
in the United Stated States (at Miami-Date College, Kendall Campus) with
an astonishing cast of over 250 dance students. Within this program
students have the opportunity to learn the importance of understanding all
aspects of the art form, such as movement, history of the dance and music
as well as the different styles of this dance such as Oriental and Folkloric
from all different regions of the Middle East. Samay is also the Director
and Choreographer of the Samay Performing Company. It has become a
reputable dance company which has contributed to the training of many promising
future dance artists in Miami. Her goal as an artist and instructor
is to have others embrace the beautiful art form of Middle Eastern dance
and culture.
